2011 Go Green US stamps
Aren't these great? The postal clerk from whom I purchased them said she was surprised at how few they'd sold; everyone expected this stamp to sell zillions, but there's very little interest so far.

U. S. Postage Stamps - jazz stamps
The colors in these stamps seem a bit subdued, given the subject matter, but they look good on an envelope.

New 2010 U. S. postage stamps
The U. S. Postal Service had some new stamps last time I was there. I'm posting them so you can get a clear look. I also snagged another set of Simpsons, which are the most-commented-on stamp I use in international mailing.
I think what comes next is some serious mailart construction. Except I have to get the work table cleared off first.

New U. S. stamps
And the winner is... I have a feeling it will be the Sunday comic strips, but Gene Autry and Roy Rogers will be a close second.

Heigh ho, heigh ho, it's off to the p. o. I go!
On this hot and sultry day in Louisville, I'm feeling well enough to take a pile of "Sew, a bunny"s that I made in the winter to the post office.
Meanwhile, my daughter annoyed a post office full of people in North Carolina a few weeks ago as she hand-picked the stamps to go on a package to me.

Big day at USPS
I sent another over-sized postcard yesterday using the back side of this 8 x 13 cereal box. Last week I sent three of these, and the postal clerks discussed under what category to charge me. This week a different clerk handled the transaction, and she immediately knew how to handle it. She went on to say that if I'd written the card and placed the address vertically, she couldn't accept it; postal regulations disallow such mailings. (That must have to do with automated machines, don't you think?) So if you want to send something similar, remember to place the address on the horizontal axis rather than the vertical.
A second tidbit was that the USPS location I frequent was out of 2009 Hanukkah stamps. They did have 2009 Kwanzaa stamps, which I think are gorgeous, and also the 2009 Winter Holidays stamps, which aren't especially interesting.
