72. Disciplinary Questions

72. Disciplinary Questions
4 x 6. Paper, hand-made lace, manufactured lace, embroidery thread, acrylic painting shard

The text on this art card is numbers 1 through 10 of the historic questions asked of ordinands in the United Methodist Church. From the It's Only a Book project in which I'm deconstructing my 2003 book, Grace: A Memoir, and turning it into art.

To Lauren, March 12, 2009.

Hm. This one is the hideous and terror-inspiring Disciplinary Questions, and yet it's all orange and yellow and pink and lace. It's enough dissonance to make me leave a comment! This gives me pain. Sit, art! Cause me not to fret.

Sigh. Art always does what it wants to, and rarely behaves.
